M&M READING designs specialized decks of playing cards to reinforce phonics concepts taught in the classroom. These cards are utilized by teachers, tutors, and parents who are teaching children to read using a systematic phonics approach. Various reading programs follow a specific scope and sequence, introducing skills in a particular order that builds upon previously learned knowledge. Regardless of the program you or your school uses, the phonics principles remain consistent. Using these cards and playing games makes learning enjoyable and boosts a child’s confidence.
A CLOSER LOOK AT THE CARDS
All the decks have one card with the name of the collection on it. In this deck the collection card is MORT. This card would be used when playing OLD MAID. We like to call it, OLD MORT.
You will notice each card has a number on it. The numbers are used for playing WAR. When players have the same word with the same number, they have a traditional WAR. If the players have the same number on it but the words are different, each player would play another card to determine who wins the round.
All decks have a word list included. There are 13 different words in each deck, four of each word. In this deck there would be four cards with the word serve.
